MULTIPLE CATEGORY LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH SILVER BUFFALO
Variety of Housewares, Glassware and Accessories to be Introduced throughout the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2016
New York NY February xx, 2016 – 4K Media Inc., the Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. subsidiary that manages the licensing and marketing of the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand, today announced it has signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement with New York based Silver Buffalo for a line of housewares, lifestyle and accessory products utilizing the artwork from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series The announcement was made today by 4K Media’s Vice President of Licensing and Marketing Jennifer Coleman and Silver Buffalo’s Executive Vice President Greg Alprin.
“We’re enthusiastic about Silver Buffalo’s track record in developing trend products that are unique, fun and play to consumers’ tastes and lifestyle,” said Coleman, “and we’re eager to see the product designs that incorporate the vibrant, colorful and highly recognizable artwork from the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series into useful, fun and fashionable products.”
“Duel Monsters is the series that started the whole Yu-Gi-Oh! phenomenon and the artwork from that series convey classic nostalgia with the promise of what’s to come,” added Alprin of Silver Buffalo. “The brand speaks perfectly to the product lines Silver Buffalo is known for creating and we’re excited to be working with 4K Media on developing these new lines.”
Working in collaboration with 4K Media, Silver Buffalo will develop specialty hot & cold drink ware, home décor and blanket lines incorporating the popular anime artwork from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. The various products will be introduced to consumers through mass market, specialty and independent retail outlets across Canada and the United States in Spring 2016.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters introduces viewers to Yugi and his best buds Joey, Tristan and Téa who share a friendship as well as a love for the newest card-battling game that’s sweeping the nation: Duel Monsters! In the game, players pit different mystical creatures against one another in creative and strategic duels utilizing awesome monsters and mighty spell cards. Yugi and his friends are totally obsessed with the game, but there’s more to these cards than meets the eye.
Legend has it that 5000 years ago, ancient Egyptian Pharaohs used to play a very similar game, Shadow Games, that involved magical ceremonies used to foresee the future and ultimately decide one’s destiny. Since the game used so many magical spells and ferocious creatures, it wasn’t long before the game got out of hand and threatened to destroy the world. Fortunately, a brave Pharaoh stepped in and averted this cataclysm. But Yugi and his friends have awakened the giant monsters, their powerful magic and the ancient Egyptian legends that fuel this action-packed adventure series.
